Lightbox was probably the most common widget asked us to install. Old magento wiki likghbox isntruction required some codding experience and also it some took time. But now we are proud to offer new community extension Magento EasyLightbox. This small extension will help to install Lightbox widget. Installation and configuration will take approximately 5 minutes. No files are replaced and no codding experience needed to install!

When adding your plugin it disable all the edits i made to the media.phtml for the product template. How can i make it not do this.
Is there any way to keep the old main image viewer with the slider, while using lightbox for the additional images? Thanks!
I think that this is a fab extension because it’s so easy to use out the box so to speak. The only problem I have is that the Next and Prev images on the main images aren’t appearing. Customers aren’t going to know where to click to see the next or prev image. How do I fix this?

Nice extension! Is it possible to have the specific picture label on the image instead of the product name?
I have many configurable products and the additional images are there to show color options and the labels need to reflect the current color shown.

I installed your super extention on Magento 1.4.0.1
My magento-connect download the package, says: it is installed, but not really, only unpacked in folder magento/downloader/pearlib/download/magento_easy_lightbox-1.0.1. (strange)
after 1hour i find here the good path for lightbox.js
(skin/frontend/default/default/js/light.js)
perhaps a info.txt to place all files?

But I doesn’t see anything in the configuration as is documented it will show here

I wonder if its possible to completely remove the fadings of the pictures when when clicking next/prev if they are different sizes, the fading of the background opacity, and the sliding of the “close” tab under the images.

The lightbox is not working with IE 8, pictures do not load… Why is there 2 pictures in the lightbox ( the same ) when I only have uploadet one – that an error too
Henrik, we can’t locate this bug at any of our computers. Do you use last EasyLightbox version?
Also you have 2 images because you have to exclude this image from gallery.

Thank-you for this great extension. It works great. My only wish is regarding the captions. I wish it would use the labels I give the images rather than inserting the page title as it seems to do. Other than that… great job!

Hello Darryl, you should copy extension files into your default folder. Most likely it’s different from magento default.

I am also wanting to limit the size of the pop-up image.
I need for a client to be able to upload original (large) images since they don’t know how to edit the size of their images. But I don’t want the full-size image to pop-up.
How can fix this problem now so that the pop-up image is limited to a certain size???

However there is a small bug if you only have one image uploaded, it still gives a “Next” option for image 2 (which is the same one).
When you have a single picture you need to tick the “exclude” box, then you won’t have that problem.

I’m trying to use your plugin with a custom Magento Interface and themes. My setup is as follows: public_html/skin/frontend/my_interface/default, and public_html/app/design/frontend/my_interface/default.
I am noticing that the script isn’t working, even though I’ve put all the files into the appropriate folders in the default folder of my theme. It seems that the script and CSS aren’t being called in the header of my store? Do I need to add calls to those files somewhere on my own, because I am using a custom interface as well as a custom theme? Do I need to change something in the files to make this happen?

So sorry- I actually solved this problem. The permissions on the javascript file were the issue. Should always check that first. Great extension!

Hi there, I had installed EasyLightbox before and it worked pretty well. After having installed ProZoom, cleared chace, logged out, logged in, I was not able to get into the system-configuration site any more. Actually i was hoping to use both extensions together. But no way … is there?

How can I make the lightbox image center on the current browser view when I click on the thumb? Right now, I have to scroll up to see many of the images.
Also, the max size of the popup image doesn’t seem to work. I have it set to 500×500 and get images that are over 750×750 still.

Hello Ed, it works as it should in both cases. The difference is caused by different image size in standard zoom and lightbox. Lightbox show resized product image on products page and standard zoom show big image. So if you want to make it look better you should decrease size of watermark.

I don’t understand how the image sizes work. Magento has a base, small and thumbnail. How does this extension know what image to popup when clicked on? There’s no documentation?

I’ve been using it on my product pages and it’s really good.
Having some trouble with a CMS page though. It’s working fine in Firefox but gives me page errors in IE 7 and 8 for some reason. The link to my page is http://www.bewafloralart.com.au/gallery.
Can you provide any advice on what I can change to fix this? To get it to work in Firefox I copied the CSS info to boxes.css. I’ve used absolute links to link to the gifs (blank, prevlabel and nextlabel).

The lightbox is working, but still I’m having a small problem with it, the initial image(=main image) is also shown as a thumb, so when I upload for example 3 images I get 4 images shown in the lightbox, the first image is shown twice?

Steve, you should set main product image to “exclude”. Please check images tab for each product.
Very nice product, however, is there a way to avoid GIANT pictures ? Like a maximum size (not for first pictures, but for others, you can see that problem even in your demo)!

I have the same problem as John. Getting the Access Denied on the configuration page after an upgrade to Magento 1.4.0.1
Log out-in doesn’t help, resetting permissions doesn’t help, flushing cache doesn’t help.. Is there an upgrade needed for Easy Lightbox to work with Magento 1.4.0+?
Yes, we did tested it and we had no such problem. Do you have any other extension installed? We have seen that some users reported same problems with other extension at magento connect.
I just have 1 other extension installed: the Offline Maintenance extension. Can’t access the configuration page of that one either.
I’ll check if it works when I uninstall the other extension.

Ok, i’ve tested it by deleting the other extensions. Still no luck. I uninstalled and re-installed Easy Lightbox, but now I have Access Denied for all of the Configuration!
Solved! You don’t make use of a ‘adminhtml.xml’ file for ACL. I’ve put the acl part from config.xml in a adminhtml.xml file and everything works fine now!

I am getting the same access denied using version 1.3.2.4 … the older version of lightbox worked perfect on another store with this version…getting access denied here with the new version of lightbox… Sem could you please expand…I went in the config.xml and there was nothing with acl in it at all. Did you mean the config.xml in the directory that lightbox was installed “app/code/community/TM/EasyLightbox/etc/config.xml” ??? Is this the one that you mean?

Thanks for the great extension. It works fine except for 1 weird issue I can’t figure out: when clicking on an image, the lightbox keeps appearing towards the bottom of the page. This is quite annoying as sometimes you have to scroll all the way down to see the image, which can be confusing for customers.

I was able to get the extension installed very easily. The problem I’ve run into is when the lightbox image pops up it floats under the horizontal menu (using your magento classic theme.) That’s the only Issue I’ve run into.

Fixed my float issue — Everything works great now!
The only feedback Issue I have had is that most people do not notice you must ‘mouse’ over the picture to get the ‘next’ button to appear. Is there any way to set this so that when the picture loads the next button automatically appears?

I have exactly the same problem, the lightbox works perfectly, except it floats under the header and menu. If you could tell me how you sorted out the float problem that would be really great.

yout Lightbox for Mag.1.4.0.1 is great….BUT is that an bug:
If I upload an image 4:3 or anything but not an square your Lightbox load it as an square… bad black lines on the left & right side…. test it on a clean installation

Hello Chris, most likely you have set maximum size for lightbox image. Please check extension config in admin.

in Magento 1.3xx I have all on default(sizes of your extension) and if I have 2 different pictures: 1:2 and 4:3 he load it in real format by your lightbox. On my Magento 1.4 thats not work. I used your default, nothing, Zero etc but he load it everytime as an square (1:1) with bad border on top&bottom or left&right. I can make 400:200px in your Extension and he load my 400:200px sized Images real, but what is with my 200:400 pictures? In your older Version on 1.3xx that works great but not in Magento 1.4. with your extension for 1.4.0.
ok, i´ve searched @ MConnect and found Zippy LightBox. Hmmm… Why is this Extension exactly the same as yours? but this extension works better with the ImageSizes. Extension get the realIMAGEsize from Image in height & width. And the settings are also @ squareFormat like 500×500 but he load it with size what image have. Magento do the same. Hope is an feature in your extension with Button: Enabel/Disable =take real Size from image for Lightboxeffect

You can remove it at app\design\frontend\default\yourtheme\template\catalog\product\view\media.phtml

Eric, you should set your main image to be excluded in admin.
I’m using 0.57 as I’m on Magento 1.3. I’ve got the plugin installed, configured and working, except when you click on an image it loads relative to the top of the page, not the top of the screen? I.e. if the image in question is halfway down the page, the lightbox loads at the top, off screen.

Just installed the extention on my Magento v1.4.2 with Connect Manager and nothing happend. Found installation files in downloader/pearlib/… but no files in app/frontend/… and skin/frontend/…
I tried copy these files:
- app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/easylighbox.xml
- app/design/frontend/default/default/templates/easylighbox/
- app/skin/frontend/default/default/css/easylighbox.css
- app/skin/frontend/default/default/js/lighbox.js
to my folders manually, but nothing happend on my store frontend as well.
Could you help me?

This does not seem to be the same version that is in magneto connect.. same with easytabs.
You can download recent extension version at our store. We are going to update all our extension on Magento connect in near future.
I have installed the extension via Magento Connect, yet when I log out, log back in and try to navigate to “System > Configuration > Templates-Master > EasyLightbox”, there is no “Templates-Master > EasyLightbox” there. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any help is greatly appreciated.
