Products Questions:

Question:

the extension seems to only read from the product name, does it include results based on content within the description or from Meta data? ie if you have a product that is a branded product that falls into a category, but that category is not in the product name (only in description) will it appear in the search?

Question:

I have installed the Ajax search, the problem is when the results come up matches are highlighted in blue (which is fine) but there are other search results with seemingly no relevance that are listed before the ones highlighted in blue. Any ideas?

Question:

Great extension! :) The Ajax search works. But if we hit the enter-key or click the search-button, it returns "your search returns no results". But in the layered navigation it seems like it's returning results (it shows attributes + number of found products) You can check this out on our website: http://www.vangilsweb.com and try searching for 32PFL as an example. How can we fix this?

Sorry but our extension doesn't affect magento search module in any way. It simply improve suggest module. Most likely your store has some problems with search module. We would suggest to try using default catalogsearch.xml in order to check if you will see any search results with it.

Question:

Hello. We've been trying to make the searching thing in magento more friendly. right now it is not cool coz when we put more words, it gives us even more results. I bought this extention and installer it today. Type words and it'll pop out the right items, works great. But when I click enter, and the searched results are still the old results. How can I set up to make exactly the same as the one in your demo site? Thanks!

Question:

How are autocomplete search results ranked? Is there a way to put the "most often clicked" or highest traffic search result at the top of the list? I know you can sort by "Product Title", but what other ways can you sort? How are results prioritized?

1 people had same question.

Answers:

Right now search results are sorted by default row id. We can apply custom sort order but unfortunately "most often clicked" or "highest traffic search" data isn't available.

Question:

Does this extension allow search suggestions by part number, title, short description, long description, and all other product attributes, or just a few product attributes? If it's limited, which ones are indexed for search?

Answers:

You can select as many attributes as you want. But extension will work slow if you will have many attributes for suggestion.

Question:

I'd like to move the search results over to the left more. My search box is in the header but on the right hand side. When the auto suggest comes up it goes off the screen to the right. The user then has to move their scroll bar to the right to see the results. Can I change this in the CSS? I want to move it about 100 px to the left. Thanks, Joe

Suggestion block position is controlled in javascript file so it can be also adjusted there.

Question:

I am very much interested in buying this extension. However, I do have a few question that need some clarification. 1. Does this extension merely apply the ajax and autocomplete to the magento search or does it also help improve the search result logic of the site wide search in magento. 2. I have customized my site heavily (although everything is done properly by overriding files and through theme files). Would this extension install seamlessly or would i require updating my theme files? 3. Is it possible to display values from custom attributes instead of short description? Thank you.

Answers:

  • Posted by Support Team on Monday, January 10, 2011
    1. This extension doesn't replace magento search. It was designed in order to improve default magento search suggest feature. 2. It should be installed seamlessly. In case you will have any problem then we will be able to help you with extension installation. 3. It's possible but it will require some modification.

Question:

Hello, I'm ready to buy this extension. It's just what bothers me is that the search result seems to be extremely slow in the demo. If the actual extension is that slow, I don't think I'll need it anymore. However, I did notice that the demo store itself is super slow. So is that due to the slow server?

Answers:

  • Posted by Vinci on Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Yep, I just installed it and it works pretty fast. I love it. One quick question, it will replace my old "go" button with a blue "search" button. I was using theme "modern". So how to change the button back?
  • Posted by Support Team on Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Hello Vinci, our demo servers are overloaded right now so that makes ajaxsearch slow.
