Magento CE Version 1.4.0.0 Themes Upgrade Notice

15 Feb

We were really excited to see Magento CE 1.4 version release. Unfortunately all previous 1.3 templates are not compatible with new magento version due to changes to html structure and css class names. Right now we are working on upgrading all our themes to new Magento release. The good news is that all upgraded templates will be based on our new improved magento template files with new improved seo code. Most popular themes will be available till the end of the week. We are planning to finish upgrading all themes within 3 weeks.

We don’t recommend upgrading Magento to 1.4 for now.

After installing the latest updated “classic theme” i noticed some HORRIBLE behaviour in the new Magento release. The WYSIWYG editor is activated in the CMS/Static blocks section and it does actually rewrite the code you have entered .

Just copy the “showcase” code into the field and save it.. it all works, now just open it again and read what it says and spot the differences.. or click save and it will break completely. The only way around it is to disable the wysiwyg editor as it seem to do some sort of syntax checking.

    • Jonathan February 20, 2010 at 1:20 pm #

how do you disable the wysiwyg editor though?

    • Joe February 22, 2010 at 6:32 am #

you need to turn off the wysi by default… so it only comes in to play if you activate it…

First thanks a lot to let us use some of your theme for free !

I’ve installed 1.4.0 and install the classic theme through magento connect and I get this : http://www.iphigento.com/theme.jpg

Firefox shows that there seems to me a mistake in ext-all.css

I was using your theme in my previous store (1.3.2) and every thing was fine was fine :)

thanks in advance for the help :)

I still have not updated to 1.4.0 version yet. and I Free Magento Classic Theme template. It works fine with the current version. Also before I upgrade to new version 1.4.0

The way I upgraded is using my host provider using simplescripts to upgrade it. Can you tell me what files have been updated for new version 1.4.0 and is it better to disable the modules first before upgrading?

Also is all the files need to be upgraded from my current version 1.3.4 to new 1.4.0 or will few files needs to be upgraded to new version 1.4.9? or what files I need to upload to upgrade to new version?

    Reply back,

    Thanks

We are using your free classic theme on Magento 1.3 and would like to upgrade to Magento 1.4.0.1
Is this save and what is the best way to do this?
Can we first upgrade Magento and then the classic theme or is it better the other way around?

Another question about the classic theme.
In firefox the corners of pages and menus are rounded.
In IE they are not rounded.
Is this normal or is there a solution for this behavior?

    Thanks,

    Douwe

    • TemplatesMaster March 28, 2010 at 12:48 pm #

      Hello Douwe,

#1 You should first upgrade magento and then install theme.
#2 Round corners are based on CSS3 so they are not supported in IE.
